Private Label Abaya Sizing for a New Fashion Brand | AL RUQIU
Private Label Abaya Sizing for a New Fashion Brand — Practical insight from an Ajman abaya manufacturer on planning, sampling, quality, and delivery.
Treat sizing as part of the private-label identity
A private-label abaya size system should make the garment predictable for the customer and repeatable for the manufacturer. Start by deciding whether the brand will sell by body size, garment size, length option, or a combination. Define the intended ease, coverage, and fit—relaxed, fluid, straight, or more shaped—before assigning letters or numbers. A size label without a measurement policy creates confusion for both pattern grading and online shoppers.
Measure the whole garment
Record length, shoulder or upper width, chest or body width, sleeve length, sleeve opening, cuff, hem, opening, and any closure position relevant to the silhouette. State where each measurement is taken and whether it is measured flat or around. A flowing open abaya may require different checks from a closed abaya with a front placket. Photograph the points on the approved sample and keep the measurement chart beside the pattern reference.
Build grades from evidence
Choose a base size and define how each additional size changes. Do not simply add the same amount to every measurement; shoulder, sleeve, length, and body ease may need different treatment. Test at least the smallest, middle, and largest intended sizes on suitable fit references. Check that decoration, pocket placement, hem balance, and sleeve proportion remain attractive after grading. Record tolerances separately from grade increments so the factory knows the difference between design and production variation.
Use length options carefully
Many abaya customers are especially sensitive to length. If the range offers short, regular, and tall options, define the finished length and the intended height or shoe context for each. Explain whether the length is measured from shoulder, high point, or another fixed location. Check sleeve proportion when length changes; shortening the body without considering the sleeve can produce an unbalanced garment. Publish the method plainly so customers can measure a similar garment at home.
Write clear online guidance
Show a measurement diagram, size chart, fit description, model information, and advice on choosing between sizes. Explain that garment measurements and body measurements are not identical. Include fabric and closure information that may alter how the abaya sits. Track returns and customer questions by size and style. A repeated complaint about sleeve reach may indicate a pattern issue, while inconsistent questions about length may indicate unclear product copy.
Lock the system for production
Send the manufacturer the approved base sample, graded chart, tolerances, fit notes, decoration placement, label sizes, and size codes. Test a production sample in more than one size before bulk approval. AL RUQIU can discuss a private-label sizing file for abayas and help separate design intent from measurable manufacturing instructions. A useful size system is not the one with the most labels; it is the one customers can understand and the factory can repeat.
