How to Approve an Abaya Production Sample | AL RUQIU
How to Approve an Abaya Production Sample — A useful checklist for private-label abaya production, wholesale buying, and broader Islamic clothing collections.
Define what the production sample represents
Approving an abaya production sample means creating the reference against which bulk garments will be judged. Confirm whether the sample represents the final fabric, shade, pattern, size, decoration, label, and packing. If it is only a fitting sample or a content sample, mark that limitation clearly. Bulk should not begin while the team is using several conflicting references.
Check identity, material, and fit first
Place the sample beside the approved sketch, swatch, and measurement chart. Verify design lines, colour, fabric hand, opacity, lining, length, shoulder balance, sleeve reach, opening, closure, pocket, ease, and movement. Wear it standing, sitting, walking, and reaching in the intended layers. Measure the garment at the defined points and record findings against the agreed tolerances. A beautiful decoration cannot correct a wrong silhouette.
Inspect workmanship and decoration
Review seams, hems, joins, thread ends, closures, pressing, inside finish, stains, and symmetry. For embroidery, beads, stones, lace, or handwork, check motif scale, placement, density, attachment, weight, reverse comfort, and care limits. Look at the areas that will experience movement or contact. If slight irregularity is a feature of handwork, write the acceptable variation; otherwise a vague expectation will produce inconsistent approval decisions.
Verify labels and presentation
Check the main label, size, care information, SKU, hang tag, barcode if used, and placement. Fold or hang the abaya as customers will receive it and inspect the bag, tissue, dust cover, carton, and protective method. Confirm that decorated surfaces do not abrade one another and that the packed item matches the packing instruction. Photograph the garment and packaging together, dated and identified by sample number.
Write the release record
Use a table with checkpoint, finding, tolerance or reference, decision, owner, and date. Mark each item approved, corrected, or held. Attach the final measurement chart, material card, artwork, label files, quantity table, inspection plan, and quotation assumptions. If a change is accepted, record whether it affects all sizes, colours, or only one SKU. Ask how the first production pieces will be checked before the full run continues.
Keep the approval visible on the floor
Place the sample or a clearly labelled reference where the relevant team can consult it, and ensure older versions are removed from active work areas. Tell inspection which details require a ruler, swatch, placement guide, or movement check. A release record only controls bulk when the people making and checking the garments can identify the correct reference.
Approve with confidence, not impatience
Sign or otherwise confirm the final record only when open differences are understood and costed. Keep the physical sample accessible during inspection and receiving. AL RUQIU can discuss a structured abaya sample approval process from development through finishing and packing. A reliable approval is concise, dated, and specific enough that another inspector can use it without asking what the buyer meant.
