Set the approved standard before inspection

Pre-shipment quality control begins before the first carton is opened. Keep the approved abaya sample, measurement chart, fabric swatch, artwork, labels, packing instruction, and quantity table together. The inspection team should compare finished pieces with those references, not with memory or a product photograph alone. Number the sample and record the inspection date.

Identity, fabric, and measurements

Measure key points such as total length, chest or body width, shoulder, sleeve length, cuff, opening, and hem. Use the approved tolerance chart and measure consistently on a flat surface. Construction and decoration

Review seams, hems, closures, pockets, pressing, thread ends, and inside finishing. Look for puckering, skipped stitches, uneven hems, exposed raw edges, and distortion after pressing. Open and close every type of fastening on the sample set.

For embroidery, beadwork, or stone work, compare motif placement, density, symmetry, thread color, attachment, and underside comfort. Gently handle and flex decorated areas without abusing them; loose components, sharp edges, or heavy pulling should be recorded. Confirm that decoration has not changed the drape or caused visible tension.

Labels, packing, and quantity

Verify brand labels, size labels, care information, barcode or SKU, and position. Check that folded pieces are protected from abrasion, moisture, and crushing, and that the package matches the agreed retail or wholesale presentation. Count units by style, color, and size against the packing list. Record carton numbers, quantities, dimensions, and any visible damage with photographs.

Escalate before collection

If measurements, decoration, shade, labels, or counts fall outside the approved record, hold the affected units and notify the responsible buyer before pickup. Identify the carton, style, color, size, finding, photograph, and proposed correction. Dispatch should follow an explicit disposition, not an assumption that a small discrepancy will be invisible at retail.

Release report

Write a short report listing inspected units, sample method, findings, photographs, corrections, and the person authorizing release. Keep held pieces separate and identify how they will be resolved. Reconcile the final report with the invoice and transport booking before collection.
